From her roots in jazz, pop, and country, Ravena puts together an attractive package of music. She translates her inspiration into chords, keys, and catchy lyrics. Most of which are Christian. Listening to her songs is reminiscent of Peter, Paul, and Mary, but with a contemporary sound.
Ravena has both training and experience in music and lyric development. She first began playing for family, then friends, then the general public. She attended the University of Southern Florida in Tampa, Florida, with a major in music. She has played in night clubs and restaurants in Florida, Colorado, California, and Hawaii. She understands what it takes to reach a crowd and her music and lyrics show that.
In the 1990s, Ravena revived her relationship with Christ. When she discovered Contemporary Christian music she knew she has found the place for her songs. Her original songs have been played in church worship services and in the local Barnes and Nobles book store. "Before I discovered Contemporary Christian music, I had written a few songs. But I was especially inspired by the current trend of music in churches, as the Lord was knocking at my door for years, but every time I went to a traditional church, I just never felt drawn back." Now she seeks to serve and honor Him through a medium that has been esteemed throughout the Old and New Testament - MUSIC.
Ravena has used her talent in a variety of churches. She played bass at Centreville Baptist Church (Centreville, VA) from 1996-98. She played guitar and keyboard in the singles band there, also. In 1999, she led the worship team at Community Christian Fellowship in Warrenton, Virginia. She played guitar, keyboards, and bass at Evergreen Community Church (Manassas, Virginia), including her original songs from 2000-2002. And she leads worship in the Children’s Ministry as time permits. Ravena wrote the theme song for the 2001 Evergreen Women’s retreat, and organized and led music for the event. From there she was led to help Pastor Ray Farrow in Frederickburg, Virginia plant a new church by organizing and leading worship.
Seeking a quieter pace of life, Ravena moved to Missouri in 2004 to be closer to some relatives. Her heart for church plants has brought her to Crossroads 242, which started in the summer of 2007 and meets in Fulton, MO. She is available to play for weddings, parties and events.
